This antique Turkish Oushak rug is an exceptional and dynamic example in very good condition for its age. Made in the late 19th century. With colors that reflect the Arts and Crafts Movement and a dynamic and bold pattern, this Oushak carpet could work in a number of settings: from an eclectic contemporary modern space to an Arts and Crafts style home.

The jewel tone colors in this rug are exceptional and very rare for this type of Oushak. Features a wide vibrant orange border and a forest green field with accents of celadon, golden yellow, and blue. The motifs are drawn in a delightfully non-repetitive way with variation of the flowers throughout, giving the rug beautiful movement.

Oushak rugs of the late 19th century were often designed with a very playful and primitive sensibility that makes them modern and timeless. For its age, this rug is in very good condition with very silky wool that is indicative of early Oushaks. The green background is very unusual and indicates it may have been commissioned for an English home with a William Morris sensibility.
